​​Swanage & Wareham welcomed old friends from North Dorset to Bestwall last Saturday and continued their winning ways with a 31pts – 14pts victory which still leaves them leading Southern Counties league by three clear points over rivals Wimborne.
​​North Dorset had a couple of early penalties against Swans, but Swans survived the early pressure. As they advanced up the field, Swans secured a scrum 5 metres from the visitors goal line, the ball was passed out to Swans’ centre David Elford who dummied his way past the defence to score close to the posts. Phil Graves added the conversion after 11 minutes. Swans continued to dominate the scrums and after 18 minutes a scrum on the 22 which Swans won, the ball was passed out to winger Alex Parry who sliced through the defence to score close to the posts. Phil Graves added the extras. (14pts – nil). Another penalty to North Dorset set them up in the Swans 22, and from a line out the visitors scored a try. This was converted(14pts – 7pts) after 27 minutes. Swans continued to dominate the play, but it was not until the last minute of the half, that with a scrum on the North Dorset line that Swans pushed the opposition backwards over their own line, with Swans no. 8 Kirk Jones scoring his tenth try of the season. Phil Graves added the conversion to give Swans a 21pts – 7pts half time lead.
​​Swans continued to put the visitors under pressure, and it was just a matter of time before they scored again. Once again a penalty took Swans into the red zone, and from a scrum close to the North Dorset line, Swans pushed North Dorset backwards and Kirk Jones came up with the ball as Swans collected their bonus point try after 60 minutes. Six minutes later, and from a line out close to the North Dorset line, Swans second row forward Dan Collins crashed over the line to make the score Swans 31pts – North Dorset 7pts. With 5 minutes to go a North Dorset winger outflanked the Swans defence to run round under the posts for a converted try, making the final score Swans 31pts North Dorset 14 pts.
