Vs Dorset Dockers
SWANAGE & WAREHAM RUGBY FOOTBALL CLUB LTD.
DORSET DOCKERS 40pts SWANAGE & WARHAM 14pts.
Swanage & Wareham went to Dorset Dockers new ground in Christchurch, and after a promising start Swans fell away in the second half for their first defeat of the season.
Swans attacked the Dockers line early on and could have had a try in the first few minutes. However a penalty took them into Docker’s territory again and following a scrum centre Stephen Woolley crossed the line to put Swans ahead. Phil Graves added the conversion(0 – 7) after 12 minutes. Swans were putting the ball out to the wings, which seemed to upset the Dockers, but a penalty to the hosts took them into Swans 22 and with the heavier scrum Dockers powered over the line for a converted try after 20 minutes.(7pts each).
Swans continued to put pressure on the Docker’s defence and could have had a couple of tries late on in the first half. Half Time Dockers 7pts Swanage & Wareham 7pts.
It was a different story early in the second half as within two minutes of the restart from two breakaway tries Dockers went into a 19pts – 7pts lead which visibly shook the Swans attitude to the game as Dockers seemed to take command. Swans appeared to change their way to attack the hosts deciding to go inside rather than going out wide. Dockers responded with another converted try after 50 minutes and one five minutes later to take the score to 33pts – 7pts. Dockers had a player yellow carded and Swans responded on the hour mark as scrum half Lee Hardy scored half way out. Steve Woolley added the conversion 33pts – 14pts. Dockers were not finished and eight minutes later another breakaway try took Dockers to 40pts. In the last ten minutes Dockers were reduced to 13 men as another player was yellow carded but try as they may, Swans pressured the Dockers line but could not reduce the arrears.
