Colts Result

Swans Colts start season well with a win against Frome.

With a number of players missing or unavailable, it was a scratch team that embarked to Somerset for the first fixture of the season.

Swans kicked off and immediately took control of the game, pushing Frome back, time and again towards their own goal line. The pressure quickly paid off, with Ferreira cutting inside the defence for a touch down, that was immediately converted by Stephens. This very much set the tone for the remainder of the half, with Frome barely able to break out of their own territory. In about minute 22 the pack were pressurising again and Lowe pushed over for his first try of the season. 12 - 0 at half time.

The second half was a different game; Swans playing against the slope and into the wind. This did not deter Warren, who continued to kick extremely well and managed to control the game from 10. Frome took advantage of gravity and the wind and scored a break through try which they converted.

Not to be outdone, Swans came back from the restart and applied the pressure on the hosts goal line. The ball came off the back of the pack and travelled fast down the line for Barker to score in the corner.

Fitness was now beginning to tell, and with 13 minutes left on the clock, the Frome left wing made a great run for the corner to go over.

With Swans down to 14 men (yellow card) the boys maintained the pressure and managed to hold off some spirited attacks from Frome to come out winners at the final whistle 17 - 12.
