Swanage & Wareham welcomed Frome to the Memorial ground at Bestwall for the last game before the Christmas break. It promised to be a tough encounter, since Frome had beaten second placed Sherborne the previous week.

Swans were immediately on the offensive, with a penalty to the 5 metre line, but Frome easily cleared this one. Although Swans exerted considerable pressure on the Frome defence, fair play to the visitors, they withstood this assault. However it took Swans 18 minutes for them to penetrate the Frome defence, as after a series of phases, suddenly the way opened up and Swans second row Darren Penney burst over the try line to score close to the posts. Charlie Parish added the extras. Four minutes later a drive by Swans forwards took them into the Frome 22, and from the line out a catch/drive move by the pack put captain and hooker Robert Elford over the whitewash to give Swans a 12pts – 0pts lead. Frome then put the hosts under some pressure, with a couple of penalties to take play into Swans half, but Swans cleared their lines and at the break Swans maintained their advantage.

Three minutes into the second half from a scrum close to the half way line, Frome’s fly half Des Kruger broke clear, went diagonally across the field and scored a fine solo try in the corner. The conversion was missed(12pts – 5pts). On 50 minutes from a line out on the Frome 10 metres line the ball was transferred all along the Swans three-quarters to Charlie Rowberry who outpaced the defence to run round to score close to the posts. Parish added the conversion to put Swans 19pts – 5pts in the lead. The visitors tried to come back into the game, but Swans had the advantage, and with 12 minutes to go, after a series of phases in the Frome 22, Swans scrum half Chris Tomes worked his way over the try line to score Swans bonus point try.(24pts – 5pts). In the last minute a nicely worked try by the centres had Freddie Strange going in at the corner for his first try for the hosts, giving Swans another five pointer winning by 29pts – 5 pts. Swans manager Tom Dillon said “ I must praise all the players for their performance all season, in just dropping one point in the league this season, whilst some players steal the headlines, it is a team game and all players have contributed superbly”
