Swans vs Swindon

SWANAGE & WAREHAM RUGBY FOOTBALL CLUB LTD.
SWINDON 60pts SWANAGE & WAREHAM 22pts
Swanage & Wareham had to make the journey to top of the league Swindon in their latest game in Southwest One(East) last Saturday. In a hard fought game at one time Swans were in the lead, but towards the final whistle the heavier Swindon pack took control.
Swans got off to their usual start in this league by giving away a try in the first couple of minutes. Swans could not kick off the required ten metres, resulting in a scrum on halfway, Swindon won the ball, it went out along the backs for a winger to score in the corner. After ten minutes Swans gave away a penalty in their own 22, quickly taken by the hosts who scored under the posts.(12pts – 0).From the restart, Swans won a penalty on the home sides 22, which Phil Graves converted to put Swans on the scoreboard. Two minutes later Swans’ winger Callum Young broke free down the wing, chipped the ball ahead and won the race for the ball, scoring a try out wide. Phil Graves added the conversion making the score 12pts – 10pts.
From the restart the ball went to Swans no.8, Kirk Jones who broke clear, but was tackled close to the try line, however Swans second row Jack Hogg was following up, scooped up the ball and crossed the whitewash. Graves added the extras to extend Swans lead to 12pts – 17pts. The rest of the half was evenly fought with both sides coming close to scoring, but just before the half ended Swindon landed another penalty goal making the half time score Swindon 15pts Swans 17pts.
Swans started the second half as they did the first, giving away a converted try within a minute of the restart. (22pts – 17pts). The heavier Swindon pack seemed to take control of the game, and the home side added another two tries before the mid- point of the half.(34pts – 17pts). However after 60 minutes following a Swans’ scrum in the Swindon 22 Swans made the ball available for Swans centre Matt Roberts to score out wide.(34pts – 22pts). As the Swans pack ran out of steam, the Swindon boys upped their game, and in the last 15 minutes it was all Swindon, and in that time they added four more tries before the end of the game.
