Swanage & Wareham RFC produced a series of fine performances to win the Butleigh Magnificent Sevens Tournament.
Swans were determined to win again the trophy last brought back to Bestwall Road 5 years ago in what is arguably one of the biggest Sevens tournaments in the Southwest.
The strong Swans line up included the likes of Robert Elford, Mike Snowden, Olly Andrews, Callum Young, Matt Spencer, David Elford, Karl Barton, Aaron Foskett, Harry Boccio & Joe Desmond. To back this up Swans took a management team with Simon Spedding, Steve Harney, Spike Joyce and Jesse Scott.
The team was captained by David Elford who not only was the tournaments top try scorer but also got the winning try minutes before the final whistle of the final.
"It's an unbelievable feeling," David said. "This team have come a long way, we truly believe we can beat anyone on our day and today we showed that. I think we surprised a few people with our strength and pace."
Simon Spedding who was in charge of the management team said "this select team had put in months and months of really hard training for this prestigious cup and I'm so pleased they got the reward. This is definitely one of those proud moments in my life that will be talked about for many years".
Needless to say celebrations went late into the evening.
Great start to the season Swans RFC.
