Vs Walcot

SWANAGE & WAREHAM RUGBY FOOTBALL CLUB LTD.

SWANAGE & WAREHAM 33pts WALCOT 11pts.

Swanage & Wareham entertained Walcot, last Saturday, and it got off to a delayed start because Walcot arrived late to Bestwall.
Swans did not start too well, giving away some early penalty kicks, putting the visitors on the attack. This proved costly as from another penalty after 14 minutes, Walcot converted giving them a 3pts lead. Swans were under severe pressure for several minutes and after 23 minutes Walcot’s full back went in for a try in the corner(0pts – 8pts). From the restart, Swans pressured the Walcot defence and after a few phases, Swans scrum half Chris Tomes found a gap to score close to the posts. Stephen Woolley added the extras(7pts – 8pts). The visitors were not to be denied, and a penalty after 35 minutes saw them make the interval at 7pts – 11pts.
After two minutes of the second half, new recruit to Swans line up, hooker Joshua Ovey from a line out, powered his way over the line for his first try for Swans(12pts – 11pts). From there on it was mostly Swans on the attack, so different from the first half. After 49 minutes centre Matt Roberts made a break down the right to score close to the posts. Woolley added the conversion(19pts – 11pts). Walcot had a chance to reduce the arrears but failed with a shot at goal after 55 minutes. A few minutes later Swans were on the attack again and once again Matt Roberts was there to score his second try of the afternoon. Woolley landed the conversion, which hit both the uprights and bounced on the crossbar before going over.(26pts – 11pts). Walcot had a couple of penalties which took them into the Swans half, but good defence by Swans repelled any advances the visitors tried. However a penalty to Swans had them attacking down the right, with full back Adam Smith coming into the line to score Swans fifth try of the afternoon. Woolley added the conversion leaving the final score at 33pts – 11pts for Swans second win of the season.
