WIMBORNE 2nd XV 10pts SWANAGE & WAREHAM 55pts
Swanage & Wareham made the trip to Wimborne hoping to add to their unbeaten run at the top of the table.,
Playing against a strong wind, it did not take long for Swans to take the lead, with Swans keeping the ball in hand had winger Rory Fergusson scoring out wide after 2 minutes. Wimborne had a penalty on Swans 22, but missed with the attempt. From the restart Swans swarmed into the Wimborne half, and with a drive hooker Joe Scott was on hand to score Swans second try(0pts – 10pts) after 6 minutes. Wimborne replied with a penalty goal 5 minutes later, but on twenty minutes a drive by Swans had captain and prop forward Nick Audley forcing his way over the line. Steve Woolley added the two points(3pts – 17pts).Swans continued on the attack, but Wimborne’s tackling was good and it was not until the 34th minutes that Swans managed their bonus point try this time by hooker Joe Scott who went in for his second try. Woolley added the extras to put the half time score Wimborne 3pts Swans 24pts.
Playing with the wind in the second half, Swans went wide bringing in the three-quarters and 4 minutes into the half Swans’ other winger Lee Hardy crossed in the corner(3pts – 29pts).From the restart Swans once again swung the ball wide, first to the left and then back across the field for Lee Hardy to score his second try in the corner.(3 pts – 34pts). As Swans continued to attack, on 55 minutes a dropped ball in the backs enabled a Wimborne centre to snatch the ball and run 80 meters to score under the posts. This was converted(10pts – 34pts). Swans replied with a score after 64 minutes as flank forward Joe Desmond powered his way over the try line for a converted try(10pts – 41pts). Swans continued to involve the backs and Swans no.8 Kirk Jones looked to have scored but was tackled in front of the posts. However centre Matt Roberts was following up picked up the ball and scored.Woolley added the extras(10pts – 48pts).Just before the end of the game however Kirk Jones was on hand to score Swans final ninth try of the afternoon making the final score Wimborne 2nd XV 10pts Swanage & Wareham 55pts.
