Swans over come a tricky opponent
Swana made to work hard for they're victory
Swans travelled away to Weymouth after last weeks hard fought battle against Oaks. With both teams having to make some changes to their match day 15 due to injuries & unavailibilities. Swans were playing with the wind in the first half and within 5 min's after some quick rucks getting in behind the Weymouth defence Swans were able to break clear of the Weymouth defence and score out wide( 5-0). This spurred Weymouth into life and they were able to contain the Swans within their own half for the next 5 min's. With Weymouth on the attack, some good solid tackling from the Swans 3/4's saw the ball spill loose just outside the Swans 22, with some quick interpassing between the 3/4's and the back-row saw Swans score under the posts (12-0). From the restart Weymouth put Swans under pressure, with a couple of attacks bringing them to within Swans 5 meter line. With some good defence and some poor decisions from the Weymouth attack saw Swans hold firm and manage to break out of their own 22 turning defence into attack and scoring close to the posts (19-0). With Weymouth's renewed confidence they again from the kickoff contained Swans in their own half and with some better decisions in attack, scored out wide to bring the scoreline back to within 2 scores (19-5). From the kickoff Swans put their counterparts under pressure and from a turnover ball Swans with good interplay between forwards and backs Swans broke through the Weymouth defence and score underneath the posts (26-5). Halftime 26-5. With Weymouth restarting the game and kicking straight to the Swans who counterattacked straight away, which saw Swans round the oncoming Weymouth defence and score under the posts (33-5). Again from the restart the ball was collected by the Swans defence and some smart play by the Swans again saw them round the oncoming Weymouth defence to score underneath the posts (40-5). With the wind taken out of Weymouth's sails in defence Swans were able to run in 4 more tries and add one more conversion in the the rest of the half. Rugby is so much easier passing the ball around than trying to run through people as i think the second half showed. Well done lads on what could have been a tricky opponent.
